I do a lot of auotgraph purchases off of eBay, but you have to know what you’re doing. First, always look online and compare autographs. You can start to spot the fake yourself. Second, NEVER trust anyone who says the authentication is that it was signed in front of them and they have pictures. Doesn’t mean they won’t keep the item themself and sell you a fake. Third, always look for a COA from a REPUTABLE company. Never trust a printed out COA or some random authenticity company that is not considered legitimate within the community. BECKETT, JSA, PSA, STEINER, SCHWARTZ, and FANATICS are all reputable authenticators that have a hologram serial number/QR code on the item that you can verify online personally. Some older items from Steiner will not and come with a small cert that looks like a credit card with the item description. Most autographs don’t come with a printed cert anymore though. Always ask the seller to send you pictures of the sticker so you can go online and research the serial number. If they refuse, tell you to trust them, don’t communicate or say their too busy…..steer clear and go elsewhere. Fourth, review sellers’ feedback and other items they are selling. If they have positive reviews, then 9x’s out of 10, you should be good. If mixed, maybe go elsewhere. Also, check to see if they have numerous listings of the same item. That should be a red flag, so take caution and do your research. Yes, they can buy in bulk and turn it into making a profit. If thats the case, follow the above steps and ask for pictures of the hologram sticker on all of the available items so you can ensure they aren’t duplicates and verify each one individually. I understand this is a lot of extra steps as a consumer, and it more than likely frustrates the seller/company, but if they are legit, they will have no issues working with you. You want the item, and they want your money, so they will always be willing to get you the information requested.
